NEW YORK, September 12, 2026 – Pioneerly, a legal marketing and practice growth firm that helps law firms sign more and better cases, today published its 2026 Personal Injury Marketing Benchmarks. The report helps firms compare what they spend to acquire a case, assess how well they convert inquiries into clients, and identify where to improve before increasing their marketing budgets.
The benchmarks draw on real market data, including anonymized campaign spending, leads and signed cases from Pioneerly client accounts. Pioneerly also tracks firms’ visibility and reputation across U.S. markets and tests their responses to phone and web inquiries. The report covers 67 metrics across 10 areas of marketing and intake.
Key findings include:
- Marketing cost per signed case is $2,956 at the typical firm, compared with $1,631 for the best-performing quarter on this metric. Costs vary widely by location, from $958–$2,397 in small markets to $3,756–$6,995 in the 20 largest metropolitan areas.
- More than one in four firms (26.5%) never responds to a web inquiry, and 25.6% of inbound calls go unanswered. Among firms that respond to web inquiries, the average first response takes 12.8 minutes. The top-quarter benchmark is under two minutes.
- The typical firm converts 10.6% of inquiries into signed clients, compared with 21.7% for the top quarter. Typical firms make one or two follow-up attempts per lead; the top-quarter benchmark is nine to fourteen.
- Fees earned per dollar of marketing spend are $4.78 at the typical firm and $9.30 at the top-quarter benchmark.
“Personal injury law firms need reliable data to understand how their marketing compares with other firms. That data is hard to find. We’re publishing our findings to give firms a clearer picture of where they stand,” said Piotr Szalkiewicz, Managing Partner of Pioneerly.
About the benchmarks
The report covers U.S. personal injury firms from solo practices to mid-size firms. Each metric uses its own sample, and top-quarter results are assessed separately for each measure. Comparisons are directional, with estimates identified in the report. Pioneerly updates the benchmarks as new data becomes available.
