Inside the network

How a referral reaches you

Follow one case from a Pioneerly client that can't take it to the firm that can.

01

A case surfaces in the network

A Pioneerly client gets a case they can’t take. Wrong practice area, wrong state, a conflict, or no capacity. Instead of sitting unanswered in an inbox or going to whoever picks up the phone first, the case is flagged to Pioneerly’s Referral Desk.

We match the case to the right firm

We match on practice area, geography, and current capacity. Because we work inside our client firms every day, we know who is equipped to take the case well. Firms with Priority access are first in line when the match fits them.

The case reaches your desk

Your Growth Counsel brings you the case privately, with the details you need to decide. No bidding, no race to call first, and no obligation to take it. If it's not right for you, it moves to the next best match.

Attorneys take it from there

If a referral fee applies, it’s agreed attorney to attorney under your state’s rules on fee division, with the client’s informed consent. Most states model these rules on ABA Model Rule 1.5(e). Pioneerly is not a party to that arrangement and does not receive any portion of the fee.

Our share of every referral

We don't charge referral fees, take a percentage of the recovery, or hold any interest in the cases we route to your firm. The Pioneerly Referral Network exists because placing good cases well helps our clients grow, which helps us grow alongside them.

The best cases are referred

How attorneys get case referrals

Ask any managing partner where their best cases come from, and you’ll hear the same answer: referrals. Referred clients arrive already trusting you, sign at a higher rate than any cold lead, and cost nothing to acquire. The only question is how to get more of them. Here are the main ways, each graded by us, from worst to best.

VARIABLE QUALITY. COMPLIANCE RISK.

Lead sellers and paid directories

Fast and scalable, which is why they’re everywhere. You pay per lead. The same lead may be sold to several firms. Quality varies widely. Consent and sourcing can be unclear. That creates real compliance risk. You pay whether the case signs or not.

Time to results Immediate
What it costs Per lead, shared

Legitimate, but consumer-grade.

Bar association referral services

State and local bar programs are legitimate and inexpensive to join. They also skew toward consumer matters with modest fees, and you wait your turn on a panel alongside every other member of the service. Fine as a supplement. Nobody ever scaled a firm on one.

Time to results Panel queues
What it costs Registration + fees

High trust, little control.

Past clients and word of mouth

A client you served well is your most convincing advocate, and the cases they send arrive pre-sold. But word of mouth rewards discipline: staying in touch, asking at the right moment, making it easy to recommend you. Few firms do this systematically, so for most, it remains a pleasant surprise rather than a channel they can rely on for long-term growth.

Case quality
Time to results Unpredictable
What it costs Follow-up discipline

Worth building. Slow to compound.

Peer referral relationships

The classic channel, and still one of the best. Attorneys in non-competing practice areas send you the cases they can't take, and you return the favor. The catch is time: it takes years of lunches, conferences, and remembered favors before the phone starts ringing consistently on its own.

Case quality
Time to results Years to build
What it costs Time, a lot of it

Referrals, without the years of lunches.

The Pioneerly Referral Network

Cases surface inside firms we work with every day, so we know what they are before we route them. Each one is matched on practice area, geography, and capacity, then shared privately with the best-fit firm. No per-case fees, no shared leads, no waiting your turn. Access is included in every Pioneerly subscription.

Where the cases come from

A network of law firms
we know from the inside

Every referral starts with a firm that works with Pioneerly. It doesn’t come from a web form or purchased list. It’s a real case reviewed by our team before we refer it.

01

From reputable firms nationwide

Referrals surface through the daily work we do with firms across the country. Before we refer a case, we know the practice area, venue, and key details. Low-quality cases never enter the network.

02

Across the map and the docket

Our clients span the country and more than 20 practice areas, from personal injury and mass torts to business litigation and estate law. A conflict or poor fit in one market becomes a signed case in another.

03

Matched with insider knowledge

We run our clients' growth, so we know each firm's practice mix, markets, and current capacity. Matches are made on facts we can see, not directory listings.

Ethics first

Built inside the rules

Referral arrangements are governed by clear ethics rules, and attorneys are right to scrutinize them. Here’s how our network is designed to comply with each requirement.

Rule 7.2(b) Recommendations

"A lawyer shall not give anything of value to a person for recommending the lawyer's services."

No one pays for a recommendation

Referrals are an added benefit of a Pioneerly subscription and have no impact on the subscription price. There is no separate referral fee, regardless of how many cases you send, receive, or sign. Cases are routed based on fit, and no money changes hands in exchange for a recommendation.

Rule 5.4(a) Fee sharing

"A lawyer or law firm shall not share legal fees with a nonlawyer."

We take no share of any fee

Pioneerly’s only compensation is the subscription fee clients already pay for marketing, growth, and related services. We don’t receive a percentage of any recovery, a share of any attorney fee, or any compensation tied to a case outcome. Any fee division stays entirely between the attorneys involved.

Rule 1.5(e) Fee division

"A division of a fee between lawyers who are not in the same firm may be made only if... the client agrees to the arrangement... confirmed in writing."

Fee division stays between attorneys

If referring and receiving counsel agree to divide a fee, they do it directly, under their state's version of the rule, with the client's written consent. Pioneerly is not a party to the agreement.

Rule 1.6(a) Confidentiality

"A lawyer shall not reveal information relating to the representation of a client unless the client gives informed consent..."

Client information stays protected

Referrals are shared privately with one firm at a time, using only the information needed to assess fit. There are no public case boards, no bidding, and no mass distribution of case details.

The citations above refer to the ABA Model Rules. The rules adopted in your state govern and may differ. This page is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

All referrals within our network come organically from existing clients. Because of that, we don’t control case volume and can’t guarantee a specific number of referrals. What we can promise is how you’ll be treated when a match appears: the case comes to you privately, based on fit, with Priority Access putting you first in line. Firms in high-volume practice areas and markets will naturally see more opportunities.

There is no separate cost for referrals. They are an added benefit of your Pioneerly subscription and do not affect the subscription price. Pioneerly charges no per-referral or per-case fee and receives no share of any recovery or attorney fee.

No. Referral services charge lawyers for referrals, which is exactly what we don’t do. The network is an added benefit included with a Pioneerly growth subscription at no additional cost. Your subscription fee remains the same regardless of referral activity, and nothing of value changes hands for a recommendation. That structure keeps the network cleanly within ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its state equivalents.

Any referral fee is handled directly between the referring and receiving attorneys. If they agree to divide a fee, the arrangement must comply with their state’s version of Rule 1.5(e), including any client consent requirements. Pioneerly is not involved in the agreement and receives no portion of the fee.

We consider the type of case, the jurisdiction, and whether the firm is able to take it. Because we work closely with our clients, we know which matters they handle, where they practice, and whether they are accepting new cases. Firms with Priority Access are contacted first. If they decline, we contact another qualified firm. Each referral is shared privately with one firm at a time.

Standard comes with every Pioneerly subscription and puts you in line for cases matched to your firm. Priority comes with the premium variants of Grow My Practice and Grow My Docket, and means the first look at every matched case, before any firm with Standard access sees it.

No. A referral goes to one firm at a time. There's no bidding, no race to call first, and the same case is never sent to several firms at once. If you pass, it moves to the next best match. That's the opposite of how purchased leads work, and it's deliberate.

Never. You review the details and decide. Passing on a case doesn't affect your standing in the network. A case you'd decline is a case we should have matched better, and passing helps us match you better next time.

Yes, and good firms do it often. When a matter you can't take lands on your desk, flag it to your Growth Counsel. Your client gets taken care of by a firm we know is equipped for it, you stay the hero in their story, and any referral fee your state allows is yours to agree with receiving counsel.

Our clients span the country and more than 20 practice areas, from personal injury and mass tort to business litigation, family law, and estate work. Flow varies by market, and the busiest corridors are where we have the most clients. Ask us what the network looks like in your state and practice area, and we'll tell you straight.

No. The network works because every firm in it is a firm we work with every day, so we can vouch for what we route and who we route it to.
